The Map of Elbe islands

The map of Elbe islands

Wild green spaces, bridges, railway tracks, canals, and busy intersections interspersed with the tumbledown relics of old city districts, factory halls, silos and new residential areas: the metropolitan patchwork between city and harbour on the Hamburg Elbe River islands known as Wilhelmsburg and the Harburg inland harbour is the chosen location of IBA Hamburg. Studio UC and Unverzagt.Visuelle Kommunikation were commissioned to develop a leisure and cycle map for the area. The map reveals unusual aspects of the Elbe islands, and serves as a key to discovering its hidden corners and unexpected insights illustrating the diversity of the area. Organised into five different themes, selected places and projects are presented in a novel way, giving visitors an entirely new and very personal impression of the Elbe islands. Alongside the IBA projects, the map also directs visitors to the area’s special attractions and unusual features as well as its cafés and restaurants
