What kind of city do we want to live in?

Young Energies is an unusual research project. In collaboration with the young participants the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Urban Development seeks to identify their visions for future cities. The results will be on display at the Young Energies exhibition at the "Urban Energies" International Congress in October 2012 in Berlin. "Where is your city yours?" is the motto of the international video competition inviting young people to submit contributions on urban locations. The best of these contributions have been selected. Young people visited youth projects across Germany as "roving reporters". They interviewed committed young people about their experience, ideas, plans and visions on urban development. The results are summarised in a film. The 10-day Young Energies Camp at Mellowpark Berlin, an internationally known centre for self-organised youth projects, BMX and skating culture opens up new perspectives beyond the national level. 30 young people from South Africa, Haiti and Europe have built a model of their city of the future on a pontoon. The overall coordination and the planning of the project is steered by Urban Catalyst studio.
